Indonesian Education Digitalization Accelerated, President Prabowo Reaffirms Government Commitment

Accelerating the transformation of national education through the digitalization of learning, as part of efforts to develop superior Indonesian human resources, has been reaffirmed as a government commitment.

President Prabowo Subianto conveyed this in his press conference at the Plenary Cabinet Meeting at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Monday (July 20, 2026).

“We understand that our education system is lagging behind. Our country is very large and vast. We have more than 288,000 schools, many in remote areas. One of our efforts is digitalizing education,” President Prabowo emphasized, as reported on the State Secretariat website.

Prabowo also stated that Indonesia’s efforts to digitalize education have received international recognition. Indonesia recently received the highest award from the United Nations through the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in the category of e-government and digitalization in education.

“This award from the UN proves that our digitalization in education is recognized worldwide. We are leaping forward, we are leaping forward, my friends. We are not complacent; the journey is still long, but we want to improve all our schools. This year, we will complete 77,000 school renovations; next year, our target is 100,000; and by 2028, 100,000. We hope that by 2029, all Indonesian schools will have been renovated,” he explained.

On that occasion, the President also explained that the government distributed one interactive flat panel, or smart screen, to every school last year. President Prabowo stated that the program will be expanded this year with three more units for each school.

“We have distributed interactive flat panels, smart screens, to all Indonesian schools. We distributed one per school last year. This year, we will add three more per school. I hope that by the end of 2026, approximately 700,000 smart digital panels will have been delivered to all Indonesian schools. This will be by the end of December 2026 or the first semester of 2027,” said President Prabowo.

By accelerating the digitalization of learning supported by equitable distribution of educational infrastructure, the government hopes that every Indonesian child, wherever they are, will have an equal opportunity to access quality education as a foundation for a developed and competitive Indonesia.

“We have an app, Rumah Pendidikan (Education House), implemented by the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, an integrated portal with interactive flat panels that we have distributed and has been used by more than 6.9 million users. It provides 4,843 free learning resources and helps hundreds of thousands of teachers in underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost regions,” concluded President Prabowo.

President Prabowo emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring that every Indonesian child, wherever they are, has an equal opportunity to access quality education as a foundation for a developed, competitive, and equitable Indonesia, through the acceleration of education digitalization and equitable distribution of school infrastructure.
